The Latitude project's test benches are critical infrastructures whose availability is crucial for the successful execution of development and validation activities. Therefore, implementing a monitoring solution capable of tracking performance and quickly detecting failures in the network infrastructure has become a necessity.

Tasks & missions

The intern’s main responsibilities will include:

  • Studying and gaining an understanding of the Latitude facilities involved in the project.
  • Evaluating the monitoring solutions offered by Grafana Labs for network infrastructure supervision.
  • Identifying the most suitable data collection protocols and methods (SNMP, APIs, Syslog, etc.) for the existing network equipment.
  • Designing a monitoring architecture that meets the organization’s requirements.
  • Installing, configuring, and integrating the components required for data collection and metric visualization.
  • Developing dashboards to monitor the performance, availability, and alerts of network devices.
  • Performing functional testing and validating the performance of the implemented monitoring solution.
  • Producing comprehensive technical documentation covering the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of the solution.

  • Drafting functional specifications (and data flows) for the EAI

The Launch Campaign Department is responsible for preparing and executing launch operations for the company's launch vehicle from the Oman spaceport. This includes coordinating all ground activities required to assemble, integrate, verify and prepare the launch system before flight operations.

While developing a Launch System, keeping track of technical requirements, interfaces information and their respect throughout the different studies and analyses is mandatory. This allows to make sure having a consistent System from the specification phase to the qualification phase.

For its development, Latitude enters an important phase of tests which results will play an important role in the remaining path to the flight. In this context, system engineering is important to keep track of technical coherence but also tests success, failures, changes of configuration, etc in order to have successful qualification and flight approval.

Tasks & missions

Integrated into the System and Mission Analysis department, you will be part of the system team working within different projects such as propulsion, launch vehicle, combined tests or ground systems development. Your mission will focus on the coherence of the development of systems and subsystems w.r.t their respective technical requirements. To do so, you will be integrated into the development teams to keep Verification Control Matrices and Statement of Compliances up to date thanks to: 

  • The analysis of technical documentation, 
  • The review and analysis of tests campaigns, 
  • Writing of Acceptance and Qualification Plans, 
  • Participation in technical milestones (PDR, CDR, QR, etc) 

 

With this position, you will learn how system engineers interact with development teams to ensure consistent system development with an overall vision of a specific product. As a Turbomachinery Engineer within the Propulsion team, you will contribute to all development activities related to the fluid systems of turbopumps, from the initial design and simulation phase through to the assessment of deviations in manufactured parts, and ultimately to the validation of your work through test campaigns.

You will work closely with the Propulsion team, as well as with the Integration and Test teams to ensure that the turbopump systems developed by the company fully meet the specifications of the higher-level engine systems.

The Fluids team at Latitude develops the fluidic ground-side and vehicle-side systems for the launch vehicle. Sub-disciplines within the team include valves, fluidic routing, pressure-control systems, and liquid level sensing systems among others.

These are precise systems posing difficult challenges to overcome, as they deal with the highest pressures and lowest temperatures seen on the entire vehicle. We are looking for motivated candidates that are self-driven and hands-on to join the team as an intern to help us solve these challenges.

In return, you will develop your technical skills and work alongside talented engineers that will be able to guide you toward the next step in your career, both technically and professionally.

Tasks & missions

The intern’s duties will include: Developing fluidic routing for the first and upper stages of the launch vehicle, including design, analysis, material selection, drafting, and assistance with manufacturing and testing.
Write qualification and acceptance plans for vehicle valve components. Assist and, ultimately, lead the execution of these test plans, including pressure testing, cryogenic testing, and vibration testing.
Design custom valves for the vehicle. This project will include the design of different types of valves (electromagnetic, pneumatic, etc.) for use in various rocket systems. The project involves a comprehensive approach to valve design, with a high degree of autonomy but under the supervision of experts in the field.

Preferred experience & skills

Education: Currently studying for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
